UK: Things We Won’t Say About Muslims That Are True – Video
Trevor Phillips confronts some uncomfortable truths about racial stereotypes, as he asks if attempts to improve equality have led to serious unwanted negative consequences.
Trevor Phillips, OBE is a British writer, broadcaster and former politician. He is a former chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and a former television presenter and executive. He became head of the Commission for Racial Equality in 2003, and on its abolition in 2006 was appointed full-time chair of its successor, the EHRC (initially called the Commission for Equality and Human Rights), which had a broader remit of combating discrimination and promoting equality across other grounds (age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, sexual orientation and gender reassignment). The EHRC also had the role of promoting and defending human rights, and secured recognition as the national human rights institution for Great Britain (alongside separate commissions in Northern Ireland and Scotland). Phillips’ tenure as EHRC chair (which at his request became a part-time position in 2009) has at times been controversial.
Phillips now thinks that the shaming and suffocating free speech and cloaking it in politically correct terms to hide criticism of various cultures, is actually wrong and contributes little to resolve any problems. On the contrary people are now falling victims to crimes with no one to protect them as they fear losing their jobs rather than doing their jobs.
The program deals with crime and race, and discuss crime facts related to all races, communities and backgrounds of Britain’s capital London. It also brings up where Muslim crimes dominate and the fact that Muslims got away with sex-grooming of children (much due to Phillip’s own work in the EHRC and it’s demand to clamp down on free speech). As usual, Phillips focus too much on blacks, as he always tend to do in every program he leads.
